I've searched the forum and cannot find a definitive answer to the following question:

Will a front axle(non-adjustable fork) work with adjustable forks? I have an axle from '94 M900 and acquired adjustable Showas from '99 M900. I believe both forks have the same diameter (17mm).

Would someone chime in or provide a link that addresses this issue?

17mm is 17mm as far as I know. That's the route I would go. You could even use forks from the SS's that have the same axle size as long as they're the 50/54mm typical of that era of bike. 851/888 forks are the same size too I believe.

Thanks for the info GRUBBY. I thought that was probably the case, but I wasn't completely sure since I recall reading another fork swap thread that mentioned drilling a hole in axle to accommodate rebound adjustment. I wondered if I would need to do the same for my existing axle.
