tubes arrived...installed very easily..only hitch was soldering 4 wired to extend my front headers' lambda sensor..Mark kindly included wires and shrink tubing..
the fit and finish is just beautiful..the pipe size and brushed aluminum tip size and the lines and flow of the pipes are very proportional and suit the bike.....and then there's the sound.

holy crap..the first day they seemed pretty loud but then after a few days of running the bike they seemed to have quieted a tad and sweetened up a little...the sound hard to describe..you can try and record it with a cell phone mic or a small video cam but it just doesn't capture it...the YouTube vids just don't convey the growl these pipes give...those mics are designed for low decibel situations and they are very sensitive.
the bike has a very low rumble at idle and when revved it sounds like a dragon inhaling and exhaling pure hellfire...it sounds like the NASCAR cars at Bristol.
I must add that the bike does not sound anything like a loud ass Harley either.
its obvious to me that mark has experimented for a few years now and really has these things dialed in..I let her run outside and go inside and listen to her...does not sound like a motorcycle at all..
its been cold and rainy so I haven't ridden her yet..but I'll be going to all the local bike shows in the spring and showing her off..
I'm soooo glad to get those factory cans and their heat off my thighs and all that weight and clutter off the rear wheel..looks fantastic!

I'm thinking about cutting off the passenger peg arm...or having an actual machinist cut it and make it look nice..I ain't giving anyone rides on it and I don't feel safe doing so either..i wonder if anyone has done such a thing..I don't really want new rearsets and I like these just fine.

it would really show off the DSS!

 I put the peg setup from an S2R on mine, the pegs are in the same place and it makes a really clean install. I got the whole setup on ebay for under 70 bucks and another 50 for the powder coating. Now I can put it back to stock if need be.

I agree with Spike.  Boom tubes really free up the rear wheel/tail area but those damn chicken wings are the only thing still blocking the view!

 exactly! I hate those things..do you know if there's a certain span of years for the S2R that will fit my 2009 696? or if the S2R engine size has any bearing on the size or bolt pattern?

Any S*R/RS model will do!  Alternatively I'll have some '12 1100evo rearsets soon that would be a direct bolt on with your bike soon if your interested.
