So I'm trying to package everything back up on the bike after the HID retrofit and I'm having a hellacious time finding an optimal spot to mount the ballast as well as hiding the relay. I "just" barely managed to get the headlight bucket back in. I know alot of you guys mount it on top of the airbox but I haven't cut mines open yet as I don't have hte money for a tune right now. I was thinking p clamp on the side but that just stands out. Not to mention the wiring harness from TRS is super long from the battery but too short from the ballast to the headlight...

Any pictures and or advice would be greatly appreciated.

No need for a tune if all you are doing is opening up the airbox. in fact you can take the lid off, if you want to.the factory 'ducati performance' open airbox is literally an airbox lid with the whole top cut off and just the perimeter frame to hold the panel filter in place.

You can use a holesaw to let air in, and still keep the lid or you can cut it away to the edge… I think the DP part was only about $40. or you could get an old airbox lid and cut it down.

fixing HID ballasts is a pita, as it needs to be protected from the elements, yet needs airflow.

I suggest hiding it behind and slightly beneath the headlight bucket. Fixing it to the bottom triple will make life a little easier.

The reason I went for an LED was partly because of the issues mounting ballasts and igniters out of the way where they can get airflow and least moisture.

Thanks for the tips Joe! BTW, Which LED lights are you running? I noticed that you also seem to have LED in your headlight bucket?

I've got my ballast mounted on the most forward bottom side of the airbox with some super sticky double sided 3M tape.  My bike is a 2000 M750, so not sure if you'll have the same provisions to do so.  My ballast is thinner and smaller than my regulator rectifier and it gets good airflow and protected from water where its mounted.   You cant even notice it and it looks like factory.

I'll try to get a pic for you.

The ballast wire will get you just enough to place it on top of your open air box.

The relay I used to tied/mounted to the other side of the steering column (opposite from the headlight bucket,  right beneath the keyswitch)

Don't have pic since I sold my bike.   Lmk if u need me to clarify.
