After spending a ridiculous amount of time trying to turn the Chinese "bodywork" into something that loosely approximates the overall shape of a Ducati 999, I have abandoned the track day bodywork idea all together - track days in general, for that matter.

So I went through the attic and found I had, over the last 8 years, collected enough spare bodywork for two complete bikes; an "03 - "04 set, and an "05 - '06   Shocked  Of course almost every piece was a different color so getting a "matched" set was impossible.

I took the red/black/yellow '05-'06 parts to get an estimate from the painter AMS uses but AMS already had a complete set of bodywork, plus tank, squirreled away in the warehouse that was less than what the painter quoted to have my 999 bits and fragments repaired/repainted.

So now (or at least very soon) I'll have My Precious back home in period correct '03 - '04 red bodywork.  Plus, I asked Stuart to make the Leo Vince pipes fit so when I pick it up we'll be back to obnoxiously loud LV SBK goodness.  The bike is also going on the dyno for a tune and remap to make it all work together.

I also snagged a "pre-owned" Ohlins rear shock so I'm good to go for at least another 8 years... And it was less (OK, slightly less) than a new Panigale.

Hey-hey!  Roll Eyes

And did I mention NO MORE TRACK DAYS?    Grin

I'm looking for some fairings to beat up on the track. If you're looking to get rid of your non-matching set, send me a pm. I don't care if they don't match. I'll probably just rattle can them hot pink anyway.

Good to hear it will be back on the street.  I thing it is wise to go a different direction than the 999 for the track.  There may be a better combination out there for your style of attack.

Very artfully said.  Let me know if you find a rubber bike  Grin  Then all I need is a rubber Me.

Yep, that's what I should have done in the first place but I couldn't resist the $300 low-ball Chinese "deal."  So, I got exactly what I paid for  ... Live and churn  bang head  I guess if there is a good side to it, all of my work trying to make the stuff fit was happening when it was 20 degrees outside so I didn't miss any good riding weather.

You could cut it up and make a sidecar for your dog!   waytogo

Which is why I can't sell it - I really love it (plus it's got a metal tank)   Cheesy

It should be on the dynamometer today, hehehe.  Went over on Saturday and Stuart had fabricated a few pipes and sleeves to get the Leo Vince to fit properly.

Should be a bad ass  Evil
