848 EVO corse ... Picture added

i just picked one up last weekend. handling is telepathic ... its like i've been driving
a buick my whole life and somebody handed me the keys to a ferrari. supposedly
has 130+ hp, but i haven't had it up very far in the rev range yet. nice mid-range
torque. absolutely useless mirrors, and the seat is an upholstered brick. i guess that's
how you pay for the performance. unfortunately, the cans are 3 inches longer than any
of the official ducati photos ... to house the US spec. catalytic converters. the
termignoni kit with re-mapped ECU and air cleaner is around $2k ... almost a required
option IMHO.

Had an 848 Hayden. Motor came 'on' @ 6500rpm. Handling was in-fact, telepathic.... Mirrors & seat were as you describe.
Look around on the exhaust. At this point, there have been enough 848, 1*98 bikes produced to have aftermarket used parts popping up for less $...
PICS! Or you don't own it... Congrats on the purchase!

What model year? Putting the Ohlins shock on my regular 848 made a huge difference in handling. The best bang for the buck mod I ever did to that bike. Your S1000RR shouldn't feel like a pig compared to this though.

mine's a spanking new 2013 with the ohlins shock (standard showa front end) and
aluminum tank. it might be just me, but the s1000 does feel heavy and doesn't
turn in as fast as the 848. not than i'm an expert ... just offering my humble
opinion. rode both (s1000, 848) within the span of a few hours on saturday.
i'm sure there's some 'new bike euphoria' mixed in with reality.

Get on PhotoBucket and post pics there. Then you just click on the img transfer and paste into your thread. Easy if you have Windows. A little harder if you're running Mac.

Yes, post pics!
I sat on one at my local dealership, I wanted to buy it, and the salesperson gave his best attempt at selling it to me. but my wife would kill me if I added another bike to the garage.
After my first track day last summer, I feel I need a sport-bike in addition to my monster.

Saw this one at the Ducati stand at the Int'l Moto Show in NYC. Without a doubt my favorite looking duc of the bunch.
Nice choice and congrats!

thanks all. i've been wanting a superbike for years, and it seems like this might be the
last one with the traditional features (e.g. trellis frame). i put some tankslapper on it
last night ... looks like crap on the matte paint, but it should at least protect the finish.
i think it needs a rear hugger, maybe mirrors that work, and a decent set of cans to
be 'finished'.
