Yep, gone boo.

Heard a rumour that Eurobrit isnt far behind.

Jefferies Honda (which owned Metro) went under also as part of the deal. Metro moved in with Jefferies on the Monday, but by Thursday it was over.

Real shame.

Pity.

So we're down (again) to having just one Ducati dealer for the entire State of Victoria.

It's a real shame when any bike shop goes under regardless of brand.

So what happens to all the stock??

Do they send it back to the importer or fire sale?

Its a problem that's spreading. The local (300km away) Aprilia and Moto Guzzi dealer has recently gone into administration. That leaves no one in Tas doing it.

BTW, we have only ever had one Duc dealer in the state.

MC business must be tough at the moment.

Yes well that's really a major bummer.

I guess when I'm up for a new bike it'll be a Honda, Moto GC in the next suburb.

i got the liquidator's paperwork for metro (they owe me $500 i'll never see) and they owe $761,000.

can't imagine eurobrit would be going under tho.

there's hasn't been only one dealer in the last 20 years.  when i started at moto there was 4 - bike barn, moto, nova and pratt and osborne in geelong.  pratts went a long time ago, then bike barn which sort of zagame took over from, we went, nova became metro, ducati city came along, zagame went (what did nfi expect, maybe that was their aim)and now metro.

In the period after Zagame went and before Ducati City opened.... AFAIK the only Ducati dealer in Vic at that time was Metro.....  or am I missing something?

Rode past today, all locked up, signs removed, looked like some ktm product in the window.

Not good, have heard of a few big red dealers in vic on the way out too.

However, when i traded in my prev bike at metro, despite them being told that their svc dept had serviced the bike, and being offered numerous rides, they just wrote down the numbers and offered a price as a trade. I accepted this price, which was very good, since the gearbox required some serious work. Their service dept quoted me $7k for that job, which they swallowed. They then sold the bike for almost the same price that they paid me as a trade?
Kinda hard to make money that way.

Not offering this as any kind of a boast that I got over them, just as an example of some problems with their business model. They were offered the chance to examine the bike properly, but declined in their rush to take my deposit. The paperwork was full of omissions and errors. Fyi I work in the car trade, and was horrified at their work practices.

I was down at Mornington Kawasaki yesterday and was talking to John the owner, who besides being a keen Duc owner and rider, is also applying for the rights to be a Ducati dealer and service agent. It would be great to have something like that outside of the city, save me having to ride into Elizabeth St 60k's away for my service.

Mornington. That'd be really good.
