So I bought one and ya know what?  I don't like it.  I am going to either get one made custom up in Redding or I am going to order one of the Sargent seats from Motowheels.

What a waste of 260.00.  Look for the DP comfort seat to be in the classifieds soon.

if money is no option, there are better seats.
compared to the oem seat, the comfort seat is WAY better.

Just pulled out the catalog, it is NOT the seat I ordered.  I ordered Part number 96787702B   They sent the 96766909B  The one I ordered has a raised lip to prevent nut slams.  The one I got is for "improved ergonomics".  Dealer miscommunication.  I will let them know tomorrow and get the right seat sent out.

The comfort seat is to tall.  It does not feel as secure when riding as the stocker, maybe too flat as well.  It still put my nuts into the tank and the seat surface is kinda slick.  I knew there were other options (Sargent) but I had to give the inexpensive option a try first.  I can't even feel where the back of the seat is and can slide all the way back into the cowl.  Being taller it also puts me in a more forward riding position and more weight on my wrists.  Were I to keep it I would need taller bars or risers to be comfy.

The Sargent is flatter than stock but not really flat. Mine works well but bods vary, so not sure it's a panacea. Certainly extended MY range though.

Bear in mind, if you order from Sargent and hate it after a few hundred miles, as long as it's in "new" condition, they'll take it back within 30 days, less the cost of UPS both ways.

I'm not sure what the actual name on the seat is but I have the DP gel seat. Being a taller rider with no ass, the DP gel replaced my Sargent seat I had before that. The Sargent seat was too firm and flat. Uncomfortable on longer rides. I like the gel seat enough I bought a back-up.

The only downsize is that it's a good idea to cover the gel seat with a small towel if parked in the sun. The seat will get a little warm if sitting for a few hours.

What monster do you have? I can get the part number off mine if interested in one.

If its the same gel seat that I have, I'm not sure they make them anymore.  At least whenever I found a site that sold one they were out of stock. They do come up for sale every once in awhile in the classifieds, which is how I got mine.  Haven't taken it on anything over an hour yet.  Seems good so far.  I hope it can stand up to a 7-8 hour day in the saddle.

The first part # is a seat for classic Monsters - the next is for new Monsters.

I bought a DP comfort seat last fall and ended up hating it. Luckily I sold it through the forum and only lost $40. Only used it for 50 or so miles so it was basically new. Tried to like it but felt tortured every time I got on my bike. Ended up ordering the DP low comfort seat from Monsterparts. What a difference. Not only is the seat more cushy but it also did not change my riding position. With the DP comfort seat I felt like I was riding a completely different motorcycle. They should change the name to the DP Comfort Tall seat. Also the fabric on the low seat is different than the comfort seat. The DP low seat is more suede like which keeps me planted and not sliding around. The DP comfort seat was more like the stock seat in terms of material. My nutz were constantly hitting the tank with the DP comfort seat. Guess each seat works best dependent on the height of the rider. Who knows?? All I know is I'm happy now!  Grin

Peppe - You must have the newer Monster.  There are two seat choices for yours.   For the older Monster, like my S2R1000, we have one choice.   I have yet to try mine but it is the similar to the second one you got (with the velour covering).

FYI, the sargent seat sits you up taller as well, although I don't know how it compares to the DP comfort seat.

The sargent is super comfy, but I find it changes the ergos for me so that I'm more sitting on top of the bike, vs. in the bike. If I were doing a track day or even off to ride aggressive twisty roads, I will swap the sargent for the stock seat.

Yes I do have a newer Monster, 796. Although I did have a S2R1000 and the DP seat was awesome. Very similar to DP low seat for newer Monsters. The DP comfort seat for new monsters is just terrible.

to each their own, i love the gel seat and the wife too.
we rode to Italy and back on it.

once I switched to clipons though i did go back to stock to reduce the seat height.

I only ride solo now on the Monster so no need for the taller seat.

Thanks for the input folks.  I decided to just live with the stock seat for now.  Gonna sell off or trade out the 2013 Comfort seat, just hate it.

Why don't you just order the Sargent and try it? If you hate THAT, you can send it back. Total cost = UPS both ways ~ $40 - $50. No need to be miserable... Wink Speak to Troy and tell him Willy in VA sent you.  Cool
