Isn't 30mpg quite low?  I read on a website that the 750 gets 50mpg... I have a 620.  The bike only has 5200 miles.  What should I check for?

BTW I ride at about 4000rpm, idle around 1300.

Wow, my 02 620 averages right around 50 mpg and I am pretty aggresive on the throttle.  4,000 RPMs also seems a little low to me.  My engine likes to be in 5k to 6k area and it seems like I am lugging it around 4k.  If i am going around 45 to 50 I'll stay in third to keep it up around 5k, 50 to around 60 the bike likes to be in 4th and at highway speeds 70 to 80ish the bike is between 5k and 6k.  I don't see how you could be at 4k at highway speeds.  Thats just the way I ride and I could be wrong since I've only put about 1,000 miles on my bike. It is consistantly getting 50 mpg though.

I have the 695 and have been averaging 45-47 completely stock (well i have a 14t sprocket).  Ducati's are a  high rpm bike and like to be ridden that way waytogo.  Maybe try flogging it a bit and see how she behaves.  Good luck.  waytogo

seems to run fine to me, but I really don't know what I'm talking about.  It only had 3800 miles when I got it, I put 1400 miles.  Guess we'll see what's wrong at the 6k checkup.

No mods.  Bought used a few months ago.

Also, it feels better on the low end than the top.  Pretty torquey down low, but when I crank it up it just seems to make a lot of noise and not a lot of acceleration.  Then again the bike is kind of weak, but I'd expect more power at high rpms

Wow, my 620 got 50-55mpg and had a power commander on it.  Something seems a miss to me.

Have you had a peak at your plugs?

I once read a remark from one of our esteemed members - who should know - that contrary to popular wisdom 620's are prone to being delivered running on the rich side. I have cored cans and pods, and when I got my PCIII mapped, sure enuff it had to be leaned out thru most of its range. Ran better, and got much better gas mileage, too, tho I don't think I've ever gotten much more than 45 mpg. You might want to get it sniffed.

I get about 45. No mods aside from the charcoal canister removal.

My 2006 S2R-1000 gets 50 mpg when being ridden at normal speeds.

These were my orignal numbers back at 4300miles when i first bought my 06 S2R1k

25mpg city
30mpg twisties
40mpg straight highway crusing

I rode the bike like i pinned the throttle at every light for the next 3000 miles and apprently the bike finnaly broke in (read the HOW TO: break in your bike, i think thats what happened here)
Currently at 7800miles
37mpg city
40mpg twisties
50+mpg straight highway, current record my bike has held so far is 140 before the light comes on, and when i refil at that point im only doing ~2.8gals

Worst fill up ever
63 miles, 3.1gals

Still miss my first monster. 60+mpg highway. only costs me $63 bucks including tolls to get form Tallahassee Florida to NYC back in may 2007.

ride her hard and hopefully she will get better!

edit: Most of the MPG increase was after i did my oil change (repsol semi synthetic) and new plugs *stock NGK.
