So did you try out the 1000DS on Craigslist?  If you liked your 900 Monster you owe it to yourself to try the 1000.

I didn't try it because my Duc mechanic advised me to the problem with the valve guides. With how many miles I put on a year, a 4V would be pricey since it would need to be done 1-2 times a year depending on the model. So I'm in a bit of dilemma with what to get. My worry with getting another 900 would be the disappointment compared to my old one. I may still go ride the one on Craigslist yet.

Purchase agreed to for tomorrow after work.

(Drum Roll)

Picked up a 2005 S4R for $5750. Only problem is that it has a stock exhaust with the udder and needs a serious cleaning. Taking it to Lorin Tinkle, former head mechanic at Duc Shop, to do valves and put on new belts.

So that's that. Lets hope they don't find my bike otherwise this thing be going up for sale on here. If that happens, at least it'll be tuned and ready to ride.

congrats...sorry about the ordeal in having to go this route...but all things considered...sounds like you'll have a nice upgrade...

perhaps keep an eye out at some of the bike gatherings for your old bike...I heard a story from Andrew at Acme Rider Supply ( a friend of my brother even though my brother doesn't even ride) that some of the thieves are pretty brazened about showing up to bike gatherings on stolen machinery.
