Unsafe speed or following too closely would work. From just watching the video there are no other criminal charges I could see. Everything else will be handled civilly. The bike was towed because it was either too damaged to ride or the rider was unlicensed or suspended.
And why beat the crap out of him? So you can be filmed assaulting someone and take a ride to jail?
Aren't bicyclists also considered pedestrians in a vehicular accident? Seems there could be more charges based on that as well.

If someone ran over me with a bike, that would cross my mind, I didn't see anyone give him a good "WTF?!?!"

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Really? Vehicular assault? The moto rider blew it but its not criminal unless there were drugs/alcohol on board.
This isn't a witch hunt. It's a traffic collision.

Sounded like he didn't let off the throttle until he was about 3 feet from them. In the chase cam video it shows him passing quite a few cyclists before that turn so he should have anticipated more around the corner. Cyclist is lucky to be alive.

i love this video. after i realized no one was seriously injured, i watched it a few more times. cyclist gets no blame, and im a cyclist myself on the odd, unfortunate occasion, but they are annoying as f@ck and mostly vain, lance-armstrong style #$%^%$ taking up my pavement!

Plus one for the cyclist wearing his helmet.
Indeed. I think he might have been dead without it.

Huh? You are painting with a wide brush on this statement. Cyclist and moto riders are birds of feather. Many of us "annoying make the beast with two backss" spend a lot of time on each. Typically your middle age man (in the video) on custom built Firefly is not a "mostly vain, lance-armstrong style #$%^%$ taking up my pavement!"
You need to rethink your logic,

First and foremost the motorcycle rider was technically at fault for the accident. Morally? WTF are roadies doing riding on canyon routes that are heavily trafficked by fast moving cars and bikes? Years ago I came around a turn on Latigo Canyon and nearly ran face into ass into about 30 UCLA Road Nazi's riding two to three wide around the back of a blind tight turn. I nearly crashed my bike (at 40mph) trying to avoid tearing through them.
I called the UCLA cycling coach and politely told him of the near accident and was told and I quote "piss off we are just as entitled to the road as you are". Needless to say the next time it happened (and it did) I made a point of their recklessness resulting in some bent wheels and road rash. Lesson learned? Apparently only the hard way. The next time I saw the group they were all riding single file....... Some people only learn through pain.
As for my earlier question? I know exactly why roadies like to ride high traffic mountain roads. They like being seen, pure vanity. There are a ton of great asphalt roads with light traffic to ride on yet you seldom see roadies there. We have the same problems here in Nor-Cal. Despite miles and miles of light traffic roads you will see the turd balls riding highway 49 through the confluence all the time.
I rode bicycles for years in and was a 300 mile a week rider. My opinions were formed through personal experience. If you wanna ride that's fine, However when your ride is on high traffic roads with no shoulder to speak of, bad things will happen. In fact I just witnessed a bicyclist get hit on Skyline by a drivers van mirror. He was hurt pretty badly and my sympathy was fairly low, it is a narrow twisty high traffic road with no shoulder.
