Not saying he's wrong about the motogp championship thing...

Whats with Kevin? Why is he so bitter lately? He is so respected and admired. Making himself look bad. Be they right or wrong, those opinions are best said in private to your best mates in confidence.  Geeez, I thought I was a grumpy 'ol bastard!

Puig's response was strong, but dignified, and more gracious in comparison. Whatever you may think of Puig, he responded tough but with class.

Neither Puig nor Pedrosa speak 'Texas', so the language barrier is one problem.

Kevin gets paid to comment and give opinions - maybe he hit a nerve that he might have been aiming at?

I gained a little respect for Puig in that exchange.  I think he counterpunched Kevin quite well.

Yes, he did.  I was shocked, but he was very serious and very straight.  The bit about him admiring Kev on the podium together was poignant.

Ten points for Puig... and I don't even like him.

What's up with Schwantz?... and I do like him. And yes, he won his title due to Rainey getting hurt. Can't argue that one.

Does he just have his knickers in a wad over the whole CoTA promotion thing and getting booted off the premises? He is not helping himself one bit by running his mouth. Maybe his parents should tell him to shut up.

I pretty much quit listening to what Schwantz said after he blamed Paul Denning for Suzuki's poor results in MotoGP.

schwantz's school isn't a racing school geared to groom/promote racers, its goal is, in his words, to "create more confident, safer riders." it's a basic/advanced street riding course.

...it's also not in texas.

that said, his role as a mentor/coach for the redbull rookie series is something else entirely.

There is a good counterpoint by Dean Adams on soup...Puig does seem to have selective memory.

I dont think Adams hit it square. I reckon he misses the mark. Adams makes the "tasteless" remark about Raineys injury in a direct way, for example. Maybe he is lnto something with the Dorna Vs Kevin thing. Probably alot going on underneath.

Im not a Puig fan either. That whole disproportionate influence thing makes me uneasy.
I'd have a beer (and bbq) with Kevin. Its just sad to see people you admire soil themselves later in life. Texan and Aussie language is similar, I've learned the hard way. Look at Colin, he's got a dose of both! laughingdp

hold on a second...

here's what kevin said according to motogp.com:

“Dani lacks nothing,” Schwantz said, “but he has too much – like Alberto Puig. Dani needs to reach another level by himself. He is like a child who cannot be freed because his parents are holding him back. I like Dani, but he’s a rider who has been with Honda for eight years and not won anything. I would like him to prove me wrong, but I don’t think that will happen.”

a) obviously by 'anything' he meant the GP title.  this is pedro's 8th year in the premier class.

b) nowhere in there do i see kevin comparing himself to dani or anyone else.

imo it's puig who looks like a giant douche here.

as usual.

well...he just added a touch of reality to the injury that Dani is suffering in the fact that we all have talked about....8 years Dani has been Repsol Honda in GP....in those 8 years he has won zero gran prix titles despite the $$$ and favor paid to him over the various teamates ( whom a couple of which in spite of that have won titles) so it is widely expected for Dani to produce a title this year or he will be moved on and treated like the red headed stepchild he has caused other riders to be treated like.
