Thanks, I have a similar route mapped. How's the LEO presence in WVA, any places I need to be aware of?
I'm out that way almost every weekend between May and October. The only LEOs I see are around Moorefield and Wardensville on Old Rt 55. Never on 33, 28/55 or 220. Sweedin Valley rd (aka South Fork rd), between Brandywine and Moorefield, will buy you back time for both distance and speed if you run short on time.
If you get a ticket it'll be in Luray, VA.

Thanks for the heads up, ya Luray is infamous for handing out tickets.

Classic route. Do the 33/250 "U" from Harrisonburg to Staunton counter-clockwise, spend the night in Staunton (plenty of decent places to eat/drink there), wake up early and do the whole loop twice in the opposite direction and head home.
Sounds like a plan, I wanted to do a ride similar to the Dragon this beats the heck out of trailering to TN.
Thanks,
Darin

I'll take you out there some time this year if I decide to keep the bikes.
Crazy talk!

2 weeks ago a buddy of mine got a speeding ticket near the small town of Craigsville ("near Rhododendron park, a landmark I could not find in google maps) on a rural, almost deserted road (Route 55) in Nicholas County (main town Summersville)....

Slight variation on Ben's route.
http://goo.gl/maps/e3ZeB
Go north in Brandywine. Inner route is fast, sweepers, deserted, and shady. Middle route is fast, sweepers, some traffic. Outer loop has more twisties and some great scenery in Seneca Rocks.
Stay on Old 55 for a great road. If you need to get home faster, take New 55.
Plan to leave early and get home late.

Before Ian gets a chance to chime in. I got two tickets in one day last year on that route. One in Luray and one on Old 55 just across border back into VA. Speeding and improper display of license plate.

I think the take away here is, if you're in VA, especially on 211, watch out for
. The spot where 211 crosses Skyline Drive is a common place for a car to lurk. A friend of mine got nabbed there last year. If you're in WV, you're much less likely to to be ticketed, especially as you get further south and west. I have rarely seen police on 33 or 250 in WV.

And if you're on skyline, obey! Skyline drive is on parks land, so local LEO and rangers can ticket there
