How often does that happen?
I thought it was pretty common. I may be wrong.

Excellent article comparing the TT to climbing Everest, from a deaths perspective.

First sneak peak at the MotoCzysz E1pc prepped for the TT:

More info -- including some interesting bits about how they've gone to conventional forks, but stuck with Michael Czyxz' ideas about tunable lateral flex by tricks in the triples. No pix of that, alas...

Some of Brandon's updates...

Monday: Quick update on the most embarrassing "crash" of my racing career. Bike got stuck in scrutineering and we didn't have time to get warmers on. Pulled out onto the slip road to enter the course and rear tire just stepped out into threw me off. I'm ok...bike is ok just some minor stuff needed. Shit happens, this just happened to be in front of a lot of people. Oh well.. — at TT Grandstand.

IMed with him afterwards and he was laughing about it.

Tuesday: Practice cancelled tonight due to inclement weather. Took a lap of the course in the van just to get my head in gear a bit. Weather is looking good for the rest of the week though! Now for some food — with Joel XXXXXX at The Famous Creg Ny Baa.

Wednesday: Well, practice went alright. Got 2 laps in at least. Course was 70-80% damp and/or completely wet. They were just un-timed sessions for those of us nutters that wanted to get out. It was nice to get out on track but really looking forward to some actual good dry track time. Crossing our fingers for tomorrow. — at TT Grandstand.

Sad shit. Hope this isn't a derby...

This is one of my favorite motorcycle racing videos from the Isle of Man - especially the first 30 seconds but the whole video is pretty cool.

It's an inherently dangerous course, but I guess that's also part of its appeal.

That was without a doubt one of the best short, motorcycle road racing videos I have ever seen! waytogo chug bow down popcorn

Going to the IOM has always been on my bucket list. What an awesome event! Just re-read Leanings by Peter Egan recently and his story of he and his wife visiting the IOM during race week really started the juices flowing again. Someday... before I push up daisys. Wink

BUT
What about the onlooker/non-rider deaths?
Are they supposed to accept the risks?

This may seem cold BUT, actually, YES.

No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori.  Good people drink good beer.  Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.

It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level.  Everything else is just fluff.

HELL...you think the onlookers take a chance with IOM-TT, you haven't seen the people posted along the course of WRC events or even Baja1000 watchers....

Yeah, watch Dana Brown's "Dust to Glory" semi-documentary of the Baja 1000. He's Bruce Brown's son (of On Any Sunday fame...). It's amazing to see how close the fans get to 100+mph Super Trucks, etc. Crazy shit!

You have to have a screw loose to do what those guys do at the TT.  I'd crap my pants riding those roads at the speeds they do.
