Like the title says-which Ohlins was fitted to the 07 4valver?
And should I replace my totaled M1100S with one?
If you are asking whether to replace your totalled bike with an S4Rs, don't let the shock put you off.
I'd got worried that somehow Ducati had made a mess of the linkage. Upshot was: they hadn't. Linkage is very good and any rear-end complaints will be nothing a revalve of the OEM Ohlins can't fix. Available from suspension tuners all over the place. Or talk to the guy who
worked with me, Rick at Cogent Dynamics.
That's assuming you do have issues: quite possibly lots of stock Ducs have been worse.
On the plus side, the rear travel is a genuine 148mm as quoted in the specs, which means that once set up right, it can handle any sort of tarmac surface.
The S4Rs is a spectacular ride. Doubtless more finickity than the air-cooled models but in its own way more involving for that. You also have the adjustable rod in the rear suspension linkage for tuning ride-height or squat. And if you swap the stock shock for a DU 333 triple-clicker as I have, you get to adjust preload and compression damping on the move. Like having electronic suspension, without any failure-prone electronics. Very fun.
