If all goes according to plan I will have another 1100S monster to fool with soon, and I'm thinking about that flapper valve. My thought is to drill the axle of the valve out from both sides and pull the valve out from the back. Can anyone think of a reason why this approach would not work?

Or is the Spark mid pipe available on it's own?

Whats wrong with a 696 midpipe?  It already is exactly where you're proposing to go.

Or better still.... how about a Termi Full System?  Evil

They're not growing on trees that's true, but its not like they're never available either...

Dunno if this one is still for sale or not coz the OP hasn't updated....

The full systems are now discontinued by Ducati and can be had much less than $3000. Find one online and haggle down the price!
This is where I bought my full system from. I emailed them and got them to drop the price down.

Can I ask why you want to remove the flapper valve instead of disabling it? As long as it is left in the open position, just disconnect the cable from the solenoid. Is there some issue with it staying in the pipe but left open I don't know about? That's what I did to my M1100 with Termi's slip-ons and never had a day of bother. Just curious.

^^ what Raux said.

Plus, it acts as a heat sink.  Some metallic bulk to heat up and add to the arse-cooking experience.  Also I wanted rid of mine so I could ceramic coat (cant ceramic coat with the flapper in situ.... well not unless you wanna fix that obstruction in place).  Not that I did ceramic coat in the end anyway.....

When my mid pipe arrives it is going to the ceramic coating guy down the road a piece from here. It will be interesting to see if it has an impact on the under seat temp!

Ceramic coated the pipes on my 696. I didn't feel heat radiating from the pipes as much. I mainly coated the pipes because I hate the discoloration of the pipes and the non matching color of the slip-ons.
