Headlight Mounts
«
on:
June 13, 2013, 09:55:42 AM »
Some of you guys that have changed your headlight may be able to help me with this.
I'm looking for inexpensive but not ugly headlight mounts for the Monster's 55mm forks. Seems like these are such big forks that there aren't many options for mounts for a headlight
Do any of you have any links that can help me complete my headlight project??
Thanks in advance guys.

Thanks big guy. I've seen and interacted with some of the people that posted in that particular thread and trust me, I wouldn't be asking if I hadn't searched first.

@FLL - I've been waiting to see what you have up your sleeve with that headlight project!
The crime scene choppers mount is always an option if you don't wanna fuss with the forks...

I thought about that mount, but I'm going for more of a "vintage" look so I'm thinking of using the classic fork mounts...if I can find them. However, the idea of mounting it on the crime city mount and making the bucket appear as if it's "floating" REALLY intrigues me.

You're right Buck...it's 50mm at the top and 54mm at the bottom. Now that I'm searching for the right size, I've found a few options but nothing definitive yet.

Not 100% but I *think* fork mounted clamps need to be mounted on the narrower (top) end, otherwise the lower triple will interfere. That would increase your options.
The CNC Racing collars are what I was originally gonna go with but they are pricey and I'm not sure I like the look of them. I have a lower triple headlight clamp for sale in the classifieds, fits the Corse Dynamics headlight and all bottom mounted universal headlights.
actually it looks like it would provide the exact same mounting option as that CSC bracket.

Here is what I just installed. Really like 'em, and well made. Fits 50/52/54mm forks. Don't mind the subpar wiring job, I've got to refigure that part.

Those look nice...kinda wish I hadn't cancelled my order for em'. Only reason I did was I bought the CD kit which I ended up hating...might get these after all if the "stealth" brackets I ordered don't work out.

They're made by highsider and come in black or polished aluminum. Looks like they are in stock now.
Just a note, because of the 50/54mm diameter change of the forks you are limited in where you can mount it vertically. I have the top shimmed for 50 and no shims in the bottom and it jussstttt fits across the bevel between the differing diameters. Fits perfect for allowing you to mount your dashboard beneath the triple clamp, lowering it a bit.
