oooo oooo pick me!  I will totally scrap the idea of a new car for this beast!  I can live with driving an old chevy when the weather isnt at its best.  Always wanted an S4R But would rather something new.... this might just be it.   waytogo

I honestly dont' know why the 1098 SF never gained great ground.

My thoughts exactly. Imagine my surprise recently when I went to the nearest Ducati emporium to seriously check one out, only to learn it no longer existed in the lineup.

maybe it's the new sf vs the new monster

Nah - i still think the SF is on the sunset route and they will be gone soon.

Looking forward to seeing it come together and be debuted.  Curious about the position of the oil cooler and the wheels.  Like the wheel choice they have on now but the final production will tell the final story.
I am also looking forward to this bike.  But I'll keep my 1100evo as it's sure to be an air cooled classic.

thank you ducati.. for destroying the resale value on my 1100. I better sell it before this thing becomes official release for 2014.
1. love the subrame trellis
2. hate the shotgun style muffler.. never liked them, under seat in my humble opinion just looks bad ass.. and keeps the open air look of single sided swing arm.
3. if its really a 1098, i will steal to buy one.
No need to be upset.  Our 1100s now become air cooled classics.  In fact the 1100s may be the last big bore air cooled monsters made.

Monster 3.0?

Whatever it is, it's not the 821 b/c of the clutch slave.  I'm guessing that it is a prototype M1198 and will see a debut this fall.

hmmm. I think you guys maybe on to something.  Certainly would seem to be the last of the big bore air cooled vtwins.
Does anyone know how many production year monsters had underseat exhausts?
ie: 2009/2010 for sure.. but are there other years?

also, on the topic of a few of the posts here asking why would they decide to drop the sf1098 and replace it with this.  Im wondering if it has anything to do with the handling of the 1098 sf.  Ive seen a few threads in various places that say the handling on that thing is sketchy. mostly speculation regarding geometry or chassis not a good fit with that much horsepower. Who knows.  I will say this. I personally know someone who worked at a ducati shop who trashed a 1098 sf.. and told me the same thing.

Im not hating on the sf, actually i like it alot.. and have been on the fence about it for the last 2 years. I just like the clean look of the monster more. But I must admit, i like the refined/precision elegance the sf seems to have over the monster (if you ride them back to back).

If it is an M1198, it would be the first 'new' Gen Monster that I would at least want to test ride...

But I'd still 86 that dental supply headlight within 24 hours of ownership...  vomit

I was hoping for something more like this from Ducati.

Looks good so far even though its a test mule.   popcorn

Things i noticed are the six bolt sprocket carrier, the return of the chicken wing rear sets and passengers pegs, and a upgraded headlight design.

Too me this is an updated liquid cooled monster. With the six bolt carrier, I would assume a more powerful engine than the hyper as it has the 5 bolt carrier. Wondering where the streetfighter  will fall into place.
