I've ridden my fair share of mountain bikes too - that's the problem with the motoped - compared to downhill bike frames, the chassis is relatively cheap at 970 - you could probably spend 5k on the mtn bike parts alone. the problem would be if you go bigger than 50cc i'm guessing the street legality of it comes into question and there are other issues - I dont know of anything bigger than that with the full auto trans, and i'm guessing it'd be hard to shift with cranks and pedals on it, even if you dont have a clutch...so at that point it's just a big fancy pit bike - very fun dont get me wrong, but I think the fact that you could potentially ride it on the street is the best part about that thing.
that being said, i'm not 100% convinced these aren't more related than ducs and ktms, depending on the setup of the motoped - obviously you're not bombin down a mountain on the grom, but you dont necessarily need to set the motoped up for that either - especially not for under 3k...

yeah...the fork alone on the bike in that video is probably well over a grand. I guess you could use something without a dual crown, but with all that weight behind it, i dont think you'd want to..
mountain bike parts are just as, if not more expensive than moto parts...

i know, it sucks. you could buy a real downhill bike or a real moto for as much as it'd cost to have that toy...I think it's more practical than either of those in that you dont need a trailer or a ski lift to use it to it's potential, but it will never be as good as either one of those things, and will cost just as much money...

Why not just buy a Whizzer? I'll bet an enterprising fellow could stick a hotter motor in one of them!

Doesn't look like those are even remotely configured for off road riding.
These are cool too if you want to stay on pavement
