That's a Sachs Madass, available in 49cc or 125cc.

Re: Motoped - The frame kit is "buy it now" $1795 or pledge to their Kickstarter campaign to try and get enough people in on it to bring the price down to $970.

I could see the Motoped catching on as an urban trials bike.

The more I look at these the more I want one! A ton of our dirt biking here is pretty tight single track, and this would be a lot more fun than my KTM...especially since I'm way more comfortable on a mountain bike than a dirtbike.

Hmmm...my son doesn't need his XR50 does he?!  Evil

Prolly not as much as you need a motoped!

lets discuss the merits of the motoped vs. the grom

depending on the parts you put on the motoped, they're probably ~ the same price... obv you could do the motoped cheaper, but i'm guessing using quality parts, not a whole lot

motoped has offroad aspirations

grom's gonna be faster on the street, assuming you're not jumping curbs and getting chased by the cops anyway...

for those not familar:

Motoped and Grom are two totally different bikes for different missions.  Like comparing a Monster to a KTM 640 Adventure.

I do have to wonder if the Grom's motor would fit in the Motoped?  It's another Honda 4-stroke horizontal single.  Evil

I need a motoped for bombing around the acreage.  We have a couple of primitive roads that go way down hill... would be fun to ride that bugger down motor-off as a downhill MTB, then use moto power to aid the climb back up.

Unfortunately, I am afraid to add up the total price to build a motoped.  $970 for their kit... then you gotta source a motor, and forks, and a shock, and seat, and tank, and crankset, and wheels, etc, etc...  Having done the MTB scene, I know how much that crap adds up to.  Would be more cost effective for me to just buy a used 2-smoke dirt bike for beating around in the fields and on our roads.  The motoped would be more fun (and a helluva lot lighter), but I'm guessing the cost won't get past The Budget Master.  Wink

I'd throw a 125 Lifan 6 volt engine in that baby.  Wondering if my extra 1983 Z50 frame and goodies will work on this project and can source a mountain bike on craigslist cheap.
Someone please buy this and post pics of the build, I have two other things in front on this but it just made my "gotta have that shit" list.  Now, how to hide it from the spousal unit.

Oh and that guy in the video was NOT riding a 50cc engine either.  Evil
