can't not ride

« on: August 23, 2013, 07:27:44 AM »

On Sunday I crashed my 2011 696 on Mulholland Highway in LA. It was a nice and easy left-hand lowside. The sliders did their jobs great as did my suit so thankfully I'm in good shape.

I did bend my shift pedal and the linkage heim joint and need to replace them. I've looked around online and found a few parts on ebay but thats all :http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ducati-Monster-696-2009-Shift-Shifter-Lever-Pedal-Linkage-Heimjoint-/300936140014

I've found full on rearsets on websites, but I don't feel much like dropping 500 bucks.. even though they do look good..

If anyone has any tips on where I might be able to find the OEM heim joint alone, besides ebay I'd much appreciate it! Also, I have yet to call my dealer.. they don't open for a couple hours and I'm impatient.

I may have what you're talking about sitting on a  shelf. Let me take a look when I get home and get back to you.

Do you need the whole linkage or just the part that slides on the shaft?

The rod is exactly 5 7/8 inches long. And the pivot thread is slightly bent as seen. If yours is still straight you can swap them out.

@nickyshelby

My dealer actually had everything in stock yesterday, so I picked em up there and threw them on last night. The rod was all bent up. I actually couldn't shift up beyond first gear after the crash so i had to beat the rod with a mallet to straighten it out on the side of the road. It is definitely not something you want lol.

thanks for checking though! what you have in the pics is exactly what I needed. What do you ride?

I stocked up on rear set and shifter parts to use with my track 749. Most of them are pretty standard across most modern ducs with the exception of some that the linkage is adjustable.

Hmmmm, seemed like a missed opportunity to ditch the linkage and go with a reverse shift lever...

I thought about that.. However, on my bike all I have to do is flip the linkage and I'll have a reverse shifter set up without having to go buy new parts  Smiley

But you just bought new parts....

And the reverse linkage takes all the slop out of shifting with that linkage and heim joints...
