Preziosi was still running the show at that point...and he was always right.

Ducati could have spent more time developing it, but with Rossi in tow, they needed results ASAP. They could not afford 2 more years of complaints, so they had to do something drastic. Again, you should not try to out-Honda Honda, but that's the choice they went with.
