Carbon fiber helmet

It's logical -- carbon fiber is a weave and will collapse with enough force, which is what you want the helmet to -- and transfer the force to the padding.  The reduced weight would help because it means less inertia, and therefore, a better result on impact.

And if that's been the experience, I may just buy one today.
