Swapped to Shorai batteries earlier this summer and have been very pleased.  The '07 S4RS use to start hesitantly with traditional lead battery even with a battery tender.

With the new li-ion battery, the bike is ready to start even when I have neglected it for a month.  No hesitation, no sputtering, just starts right up!

Thanks for this update! My DB5R starts ok, but I can tell that it would like a little more umph when cold!

Im using the LFX 18 -L-1 in my 900 monster (with hi comp). It has + on the rhs. Which terminal orientation and case size do you need?  Shorai have a site with a battery finder.

generally cause the battery is on its way out. My new battery (lead acid) kicks like a mule. Just as good as my ballistic battery did.

Even with a new lead acid battery, the starting drama seems to appear after about 6 months.
As a six years old bike, I wonder if they extra juice is helpful for the large-ish pistons in the RS.  I'm sure with all the wear and tear makes it harder to start as well.

Who know, I'm just happy to not have to hold my breath each time I hit the starter.

Second season with the Li-Ion.
Thought I'd follow-up with a long term report:

Still loving the Li-Ion battery.  Bike fired up immediately after a winter of being in storage.
None of the hesitation I use to experience.  I use to hold my breath each time I thumb the starter.  Now it's dreamy!

I have the LFX18A1 which was suggested by Shorai.  Love it also, and Shorai stands behind their products. I kind of...toasted my first one and it was probably my fault but they sent me a new and upgraded one for just the difference in price ($30) no questions asked.

Sooooo light and small too 😊

Well...I'm having some doubts.
My bike cut out on me while I was riding and would not restart.  Thankfully, I was at a red light and just started to move so was able to safely and quickly move to the side.  I did not enjoy the 5 block push back to the garage.  I contacted Shorai and have a replacement battery enroute.

I won't point fingers yet since it could be that I have a busted alternator...I hope not though 'cuz that's a lot more money going to repairs.

Time to check the regulator, cables, grounds and regulator and alternator wires.

Do a search for one of Howies posts on electrickery. ;D

Alas....I think the Shorai battery is working fine, but my alternator is likely the culprit.

I bought one last winter but never bothered in install.

How are y'all modifying the battery box to hold the smaller Shorai?

Use the foam padding that came with the battery to take up the extra space?

The elastic band in the S4RS hold the smaller battery very well without the need to use the included foam.
