Hey all i wanted to get some ideas for routes to hit up for a weekend of hooliganism.  My brother comes back from Army Basic in a month and i'm trying to take him on a weekend trip.  I have heard some good things about CT and its roads so figured we would head up into your neck of the woods for the weekend.  We will be leaving from long island and taking either the port jeff or orient point ferry over.

Stuff-
-Distance is not an issue since it will be all weekend 400+mile days are no problem.
-Will be in need of a place to stay Friday night that is say within 2-3hours of the ferry and close to twisties at the same time or within an hour of twisties
-Also need a place to stay Saturday but if all else fails tents are an option
-Route is not limited to CT

Any and all info is welcome and thanks in advance!!

Hi Ben,

Here's my suggestions. The following is a ride I do somewhat regularly as a day trip, but you can work with it to make it work for you. I'll list the major roads, but there's a couple of side roads here and there, so make sure you check it out on Google maps or something.

Come over on the Port Jeff Fairy into Bridgeport. In downtown bridgeport, find your way to RT 8 North.

Rt 8 North ( the highway part) ends in Wnsted CT.
Continue up RT8 North ( two lane ) into Otis MA to Rt 23 East
Work your way from RT23 to Rt 20 NW
Take RT 112 North to RT 9 East.
From here, there's a couple of ways ( check the map ) to get to RT 116 West.
Work your way to RT 8A North and then to RT 2 West ( Mohawk Trail ).
From here, you take RT 2 to RT 8 North and End up on RT 9 in VT

At this point I head East on RT 9 to 91 and then to exit 4 for BBQ at Curtis's and then backtrack towards CT. But you can continue up 100 and eventually cut back over (West ) to RT 7 to have something different to ride back south on.

For hotels, It would depend on how far you ride etc. If you decide to ride back closer to CT to be close to the ferry, then there are a number of hotels in Shelton on Bridgeport avenue ( exits 11/12 ) off of Rt 8. This is within a half an hour of the ferry.

Hope this helps...

Thanks
