Its worth the cost.  We had a GE at our old house.   Brand new.  Sounded like a diesel truck.

My friend has a Hobart commercial dishwasher.  2 minute  wash cycle and requires its own hood.  Don't even think about putting plastic in that thing.

We had one of those in a bar/restaurant I used to run.

Definitely not for home use if it's the same model I've encountered.

Very effective though.

I'm convinced I could've put something in there coated in concrete, as long as it didn't have over 48 hours to cure, and it would've come out clean.

But beware of the steam billowing out of it when you open it, and the $5,000 used price tag...

We have a Miele.

It is awesome.  They use a top drawer for silverware which frees up a lot of space.  And they clean exceptionally well, but they are not cheap -- and they have a warranty which makes it worthwhile.

They also have the best sound insulation, bar none.  You will not know the dishwasher is running at all unless you have your face on the front. 

I can't overemphasize how good they are and how useful the silverware drawer is.

Agreed.  How do you find yours dries plastic items?  That's my only gripe.

I think you're going to find that problem with all the modern high efficiency dishwashers.  Our Bosch does the same thing.

The Miele is the dishwasher to have.   I read somewhere that Miele manufacturers almost everything on their appliances,  even the screws.

No problem if it is dishwasher safe and top (middle on the Miele) rack.

The big issue is making sure something is holding it down because the jets on the Miele are pretty hearty.

The miele have their own true dry cycle -- forced air.

I have read that Bosch and Miele actually use some shared components but don't quote me on that.  Notably, both are german design but I think the Bosch are assembled in the US (ones for the US market).  I do know the Mieles have the lowest complaint/repair/return rate in the industry.

I put an LG in 3 months after I bought my house (the One the builder put in was useless) Had zero problems other than it takes the paint off my collection of pint glasses. so I hand was them with my knives.

I've got a GE, some type of upline my dad found on the scratch & dent rack a Lowe's.  The year I bought my house.  It's been in for nearly 10 years now and not a single problem yet.  Dishes are so hot you can't remove them as soon as the cycles stop.  Not bad loud either, doesn't harm plastic but never dries the little bit of water that collects in the lip of plastic containers.
