It looks like the pegs are a bit forward, but I need to see someone on it.  Yeah, the trellis frame seems..... like it should be covered.  Just an opinion from a 695 owner.

Does anybody else get fatigued Cry looking at the engine on the chain side?  Not that the pipe side is all that easy on the eyes ...

Not a good side is it. I thought I didnt like the street fighter, but now it's starting to look pretty good.

The whole thing is not very artful. Now all that being said. Its probably a great bike and a blast to ride as long as you dont have to look at it.

For years Monster owners have been fortunate to enjoy both riding and later on looking at their bikes with a beer in their hand after the ride. drink  That's a skinned Multi.  Prolly stare in awe post ride.

Just saw the '14 up close and have to admit it is much nicer in the flesh than pics indicate.  It has too much plumbing and odd bits to ever be as pure in design as an aircooled Monster but the '14 is by no means ugly, and IMHO, quite striking - in a mostly good way.

And you just know any current Monster owner who actually rides one is going to be at least tempted, if not tormented.

Steve,

As smooth as they are, you need the complexity of a 4-valve like a hole in the head!  Cool And an EVO has more poise than yours because it has more weight on the front wheel..., but you'd just want to mod the blazes out of that too! Your blueprinted S2RK too slow?  Grin

I just looked at the new bike at Moto Corsa here today, and it is a nice looking bike! If you hate the S4 monsters you will probably feel the same about this one, butt I love the fuel tank and the whole package screams monster to me! Too much electrickery for myself, and too many valves, butt that is just my Luddite self talking. Go look at it with an open mind and sit on it before you condemn it.

I spoke to my nephew, who owns a 2012 SF 1098.
He went at a presentation event in Rimini, and tried the 1200.
He said that it feels more powerful than his SF, though it is a bit more of a nervous character.
He also confirmed that it looks better for real, WRT the pictures.

I like it and now that I've had a chance to be up close with it at the Dealer it is on my list. At first I thought the pegs were too high and then we discovered the seat was set in the low position, takes seconds to move it to the higher position. Very cool and the seat is desgined in such a way that you cannot tell it is in a different position from the side. The footpegs will be an issue when riding on the balls of your foot. I like the look of the exhaust. I don't like the gap in the tail section but there are bags on the way. I don't mind the license plate hugger thing, I know from expereince that thing works to keep the rain off of your back, having followed a friend on his MTS 1200. All in all I like it a lot, but my dealer has a leftover blue/white Diavel that I can get a very good deal on, spec wise it is almost the same bike the Divael has a little more Horsepower, and I know the bike handles pretty well as I put 500+ miles on one being a sweep rider for a Ducati Expereince tour. I've aready got a great M900 in the garage that I want to keep but quit riding so much, so I'm leaning towards the Diavel. But I think this new Monster is great evolution of the species and we are lucky it is still in the lineup. - Gene

It's silly that you are complaining about the rider crowd that came to see the bikes same as you.  It's ridiculous you are judging others simply because.  No wonder ppl I ride with think Ducati riders are pricks :-(.

As for monster, I simply can't get used to the newer monster and plastics. I simply can't get used to the headlight.  But the street fighter is proly my next bike if the stars align right.

I saw it at the Toronto motorcycle show last weekend.

Like a few others here, I do think it looks much better in person, although I prefer the look of the older monster. It seemed very comfortable when sitting on it and a little less aggressive position than the monsters of the last few years. As much as I prefer the older monster, I have a feeling one ride and I would want one desperately.
