I'm having trouble... I know not many of you have experience with the 696, but I could use some general advice I suppose.  I've got everything removed and set, but I CAN NOT get the Nipple off of one of the intake manifolds!  There is just NO WAY to get tools into where they need to be without removing everything...tank panels, battery, battery holder.  What Can I do to just cap the nipple instead of using a bolt?

rtv a bolt(think stainless) that fits snuggly(to the point of threading) inside a short piece of the rubber hose you just removed and reattach the hose and clamp

You can get vacuum hose plugs (caps for nipples) at pretty much any local car parts store. Advance Auto, PepBoys, Napa Autoparts, etc.

Thanks for the replies.  I ended up putting both nips back on and hooking up the tube straight from one nip to the other. Any problem with that?

Yes, you can cap it.

cbartlett419's suggestion works very well too.
