Here's a link my friend sent me, to some pictures some one took from summit this weekend:

Yikes! After hearing the reports of how nice the track was after the resurfacing, it's sad to see how quickly it has deteriorated. Cheap tarmac? Running cars too soon after it was laid down? They should've repaved before the winter and let it cure is my guess.

I'm going to drive out there and sh*t in the middle of turn 5. Maybe Bill Scott will get the idea after that gets called in.

True - my friend Ben was turning 15s there last weekend. Sealant and all. :o
So you can still do fast laps. When I raced regularly at Grattan it had the same issues (ragged track with lots of sealant). The sealant got good traction in the sun and heat, but the shininess would freak out non-locals who would slow waaay down for it. Now in the cold & wet it was a different story.

For those of you who have not been racing, or attending races, at Summit Point since the early 1980's, this is the way it has ALWAYS been.

They repave, badly, late, with no preparation or without proper preparation, without proper materials, without proper machinery, in a hurry, at the wrong time of year, in the wrong temperatures, and then they run cars on the new pavement too quickly afterwards, and the track rolls up, ripples up, crumbles up, tears up, breaks up, falls apart, and then they apply some cheap, lame, half-assed "fix" that doesn't work, or doesn't last, or both.

Why worry?  It gives locals a BIG advantage over visiting racers!!!!!   [moto]

And the way it will always be until we stand up and say "We're not going to race here anymore until you fix this shit." It's a damn shame that NJMP is so expensive to rent. Maybe it would take some of that money out of BSR's pockets and force him to fix the safety issues and the band-aid repairs.

There is rumor that a road racing track may be coming to Hollywood MD. I heard it a few weeks ago at SP. I called the St Mary's local govt and found out that two guys from Annapolis are keen on the idea of buiding a track on 600 open acres right off of 235 near in Hollywood. We will see what happens. That would be awesome especially if it's a good track. Then we could have a true regional series.

I haven't heard that rumor... but, I have often wondered if Jon Beasley, owner and promoter of the highly successful Budds Creek, would be interested in developing a road course.  Budds Creek is in SoMD and hosts several national and international motocross events including AMA Motocross Championship, and FIM Motocross of Nations.

BTW - the AMA Championship race is this weekend.    http://www.buddscreek.com/

<<<Hint to Gene>>> ....Budds would be a decent destination for Sunday's MAD ride (Budds Creek is very close to the RT 301 Potomac River Bridge).  This offers the possibility of incorporating Rt 206 and Rt 218 as part of the ride route. :)

There is a Bike drag race down there this weekend Sat/Sun, I could be persuaded, but to be honest I've done extensive travel in that area, not a lot of Ducati roads, a few after the bridge, but not many...still once you have heard/felt a pro stock bike go off the line you will be hooked. - Gene
