That tank looks over blown.

Basically same engine/'frame' as M1200 . . . but 821cc as in HYM/HYS, the dashboard looks a lot like the HYM/HYS one and it will feature RbW . . .

DSS and cable clutch as in HYM/HYS

I like the tail on this 800 better than the 1200. More specifically the license plate mounting.  I am not a fan of the plate mounting on the tire on the 1200 which is like the diavel.  On the diavel it looks fine but for some reason it looks odd to me on the monster 1200 IMO.  I am sure there will be better after market tail kits for the new 800 too.

There is a 'license plate relocating kit' for under the tail light for the M1200/S

I have to say I'm disappointed in the styling (probably +50).

I would have liked a clean looking retro monster closer to the original style with a 1200-1400cc air cooled motor that made 100 rwhp and 80ft/lbs all day off the showroom floor. Then get the performance via power to weight ratio of a minimalist air/oil cooled bike .They would have to sell a "not for road use" re flash like Triumph do or it wouldn't run in Cal. Tongue Ducati need to tune into the customers like Willie G did.
Clearly Ducati are after a different demographic than myself. You'd think that they would have the "old guy", nostalgic version.

I'm sure it performs very well.

Fugly (1200 / 1200S), fuglier (800), fugliest…?  Might have some uses though – like scaring naughty children with Grin.

Amen brother!  No truer word said!  waytogo waytogo

Ducati totally missed the cue that BMW picked up loud and clear and which has seen them launch the R NineT.  It is a Market Ducati already had cornered but had forsaken in their misplaced obsession positioning the Monster (instead of the Streetfighter) to compete with the Brutale, the Beast and the like.  PPL are tired of plastic-clad über-performance scare-you-sh!tless yuppie-bikes.  Retro is back, big time.

That's why I went out of my way to find an 1100S.  It's modern enough but still air cooled, still has the dry clutch and is simple enough to understand and fiddle with. And doesn't have an ugly radiator.

I love the new tank.. and the new headlight.. Thank God there's no ridiculous headlight fairing to remove or ugly tank vents.  The Torque, braking ,seat and handlebars are a dream to experience. They got it right in so many ways. Except it needs to come in black. Gloss and Flat please.  waytogo

What Koko said.  Not sure where they are going with this.  Hopefully someone from Ducati is reading this
