My old S4 had a bypass installed.

Only once did a make the mistake of not making sure I had kicked it up all the way.

Luckily when I went to turn left, it just kinda bounced me back up straight and I was going slow enough that I was able to keep everything under control long enough to figure out what had happened and flip the stand up.  Missed my turn though.

I did the same thing on my 996. Unfortunately, I think the impact weakened the kickstand enough that it cracked a week later and the bike fell over anyway  laughingdp

I personally believe that you should never override the kickstand switch unless it's malfunctioning.

I personally believe that you should never override the kickstand switch unless it's malfunctioning.

Royal pain in the ass on carbed bikes that need to warm up for awhile.

When I had my m900ie we fed the ecu a second ground generated by the neutral light.

That way with the bike running in neutral it would run with the stand down. The instant you put it in gear with the stand down the engine cut out. A $1.49 diode on the line from the neutral light to the side stand switch kept the neutral light off while in motion in gear.

Worked perfectly.

I was able to have my S2R on the kickstand on while in neutral. I'm not sure if they installed the bypass directly at the dealer.

Every bike I've ever owned allowed the stand to be down while the bike was running in neutral. Oldest one was a 2001 M900, and included multiple other Ducatis. I didn't modify any of them, it's how they came.

Hmmm, I don't know about 2001 but for sure the 2000 m900ie would not run with the stand down in neutral.

My bike has a bypass installed and there have been a couple times where I didnt pop the kickstand up but it's springloaded so as soon as it swipes the ground in forward motion (even slightly) it pops right up. I'm having a hard time understanding how the Kickstand wouldnt just get pushed up by the forward motion instead of causing a crash like this? Maybe it's not spring loaded like my Monster 620??

My ST2 has the kickstand switch disabled as well, and the couple of times I've taken off with it down it touched & flipped right up on the first low-speed left, even just a minor direction change. As on your 620, it was unnerving but uneventful, though I could see that things might end differently if you managed to get up to speed before turning left.

I've long meant to look at the switch so that it'll run kickstand down in neutral but kill if I put it in gear, but it's pretty far down on the list of things to do. These days I just make a habit of raising the stand before I do anything else any time I've got a leg over the bike.

I disabled the bypass as well as the "Auto-retract" for the kickstand on my SPS... a buddy of mine saw a customer at Spectrum in Irvine (when they were open) climb onto a 996 which was on consignment and when he leaned the bike up ... the side stand retracted. Customer had no idea,  and when he climbed off .... the bike fell over
