I disabled the bypass as well as the "Auto-retract" for the kickstand on my SPS... a buddy of mine saw a customer at Spectrum in Irvine (when they were open) climb onto a 996 which was on consignment and when he leaned the bike up ... the side stand retracted. Customer had no idea,  and when he climbed off .... the bike fell over

Woops....nobody happy in that scenario. I won't touch another person's (dealership property excluded) unless a combination of them insisting and me reeeeealy wanting to happens...and then I act like I'm handling the lost ark from Indiana Jones....

Easily to override, mine are.

What's the advantage to this?

To allow your bike time to warm up while you finish your  coffee

Some switches don't allow the bike to turnover even in neutral when the kickstand is down. That's when you would need to override it if you want to warm up the bike without having to stand on it.
