I read an interview of him, in an Italian sports news site, where it is clear that he has been affected a lot by Simoncelli's death.
Things which you do not forget, and stay in your mind forever. His, and even worse VR's, which was Marco's close friend.

CE would be a highly qualified, insightful and very, very entertaining commentator.
Always had a soft spot for him since he's half Aussie. They'd be crazy not to offer him a job.

He may be a bit too truthful for the job, at least as far as the official folks are concerned.
