I don't know about anyone else but in North East it's starting to feel like riding season… Finally applause. This is my 7th year riding and i have a ritual that i follow every year to officially "start" the season for myself.

I ride from where i live in Connecticut into New York down to Bear Mountain State Park and ride Perkins Memorial Drive all the way to the top and back down and back to the top and back down etc etc. The views are amazing and its fun. Plus seven lakes drive is right there and there is plenty of good riding in the area.

The riding season doesn't start for me until i do that ride. Its been that way for 7 years and tomorrow it will be again.

Anyone else have any beginning of the season traditions or rituals they follow to start the season for themselves?

(For the record i don't mean, ride for the first time this year. I've been riding the last couple weeks getting warmed up and shaking off my winter rust. For me its a state of mind, riding season is ON and until its too cold, the car stays parked and i ride the bike as much as possible.)

I always check my brakes for functionality and feel before I'm out of the driveway

My yearly tradition is to stress out excessively about how my bike is in pieces that are scattered around the country and how I'm not going to ride until August at this rate..

+1  bang head

Other than that, no start ritual, but many elements that need to be included before the season is complete (usually also a stage or two where I revisit Buck Naked's tradition).

Nothing special. Go to the routes we like to check road condition. Prepare for the aches and pain of getting used to riding again.
