I was looking at some places to stay in Austin today.
A couple of choices, stay in downtown or north Austin near 183.
Downtown would be aout $60pp whereas the 183 area is $45pp. I think the 183 area will be easiest area to park truck/trailers. Let me know what you guys think, I'll book the rooms asap

I usually stay around the 183 area when I'm there. It's fine with me.

The LaQuinta Inn off of 35 and 183 is decent and has plenty of parking. That's the place I was thinking of booking

Guys, I'm definitely going on the trip!
However, I'm not decided about my departure time.
One important fact I need to find out...
Does anyone have room left on a trailer?

Also, now that I've finally made up my mind about going... Is there anyone who still needs a cabin at Koyote Ranch?
I talked to them this afternoon. They currently have availability of pretty much every size cabin for the 3 nights we need.
Kamp Kabin
- sleeps 4 adults for $75 a night. This cabin is bare-bones. Electricity and an A/C. No TV, no bathroom, no kitchenette, no running water. Use community shower/bath facilities.
Getaway
- sleeps 4 adults for $170 a night. This cabin has everything that Kamp Kabin doesn't (full bathroom, kitchenette, TV).
Personally, I figure the Kamp Kabin is sufficient for my purposes (sleeping between day-long rides). However, if there are at least 3 more folks looking for cabin accomodiations, I'm up for either option.
Reply here to discuss, or PM me.
Thanks!

I'm not going to commit to this, but I will be shooting for the trackday at the end of the month. I'm pretty stoked and motivated to get trucking on our loan obligations that we just closed, so I'm gonna stay in town for now.

I'm up for the cheap cabin and community showers are fine. If nothing works out I can snooze in my truck.

After talking to Scott, Patrick, and Ron I think the downtown location will be good. The extra $ is worth being close to downtown and in an area where we won't have to worry about the bikes overnight.
I plan to book the rooms on Monday when I'm at the office

Even the cheap cabins are very nice, and the "community" bathrooms were very nice also.

shoot, you're growing your own hops now, THAT'S what I'd request!
Well I am "trying" to grow my own hops.
I am a lot better at brewing beer than I am keeping plants alive.
But I meant have a poll to get some beer style requests for next time.
I should have a couple different things ready to go for this run though.

Speaking of nancy boys...
In case I forget, two of the beers are not Vegan approved.
Before anyone freaks out and thinks I made a Cock Ale.
There is
honey
in one and
lactose
in the other. They will be labeled.
Oh, and before anyone freaks out about what a Cock Ale is.

The recipe for authentic Cock Ale has finally arrived. Boy it sure is scary:
COCK ALE (circa the 1500's) A real recipe from some obscure text found in the Scottish Highlands... Enjoy....
Procedure:
"Take 10 gallons of ale and a large cock, the older the better; parboil the cock, flay him, and stamp him in a stone mortar until his bones are broken (you must gut him when you flaw him). Then, put the cock into two quarts of sack, and put to it five pounds of raisins of the sun - stoned; some blades of mace, and a few cloves. Put all these into a canvas bag, and a little before you find the ale has been working, put the bag and ale together in vessel.
In a week or nine days bottle it up, fill the bottle just above the neck and give it the same time to ripen as other ale."

Any recipe that
starts
with "Take 10 gallons of ale..." will always get my attention. That whole thing about stamping a chicken in a stone mortar though was kind of a downer...

Alright, I'm a little confused.
according to this "...put the cock into two quarts of sack, and put to it five pounds of raisins of the sun - stoned..."
Something needs to get stoned here...
Is it the raisins?, the cock?, you?, or some combination of those three?

Ron,
I'll count you as #3 in the Kamp Kabin (maximum 4). That'll be you, me, and littleyellowduc.
There's still room for one more if anyone's interested.
