Test rode and then bought the Speed Triple R ABS in black...gonna be a fun bike, maybe not Ducati Streetfighter fun, but fun none the less...arranged for payoff and pickup late next week, need to move the Duc as I really only have room for one bike...

No run down Lagoon drive and back with Bill...

Had a good ride on the Speedy, up onto the freeway via that onramp off Puuloa, off at Camp Smith then on H1 again heading back...the two onramps are nice n curvy and the bike was sweet through them, no fighting back like the SF...sales guy let me lead and encouraged me ride some more, but I'd had a lengthy test ride 5 years ago and just wanted to get back and see if I could do a deal... Congrats Gene!  Good score on the Trumpet.

No run down Lagoon drive and back with Bill...

I always laughed at SS's test rides.  Bill breaks out his scooter and wants you to follow him down tot he airport and back.   laughingdp

During yesterday's test ride I thought the brakes were a bit spongy compared to the SF (both have Brembo monoblocks)...so before we called it quits, Jing and I stopped by Cycle City where I asked my sales guy if he would have the brakes bled before I take delivery.

After arriving home I did a Google search and came up with this from Sport Rider...

[The Speed Triple R’s brakes feel noticeably tamer than the 675R’s, be it because of the ABS plumbing or the added weight the naked bike carries over its sportbike sister. The first quarter-inch of pull is soft, but grab the brakes beyond that and you’ll have so much stopping power you won’t know what to do with it.  This brake package really is impressive, with great power and enough feedback from the lever to make stoplight-to-stoplight riding a one-finger chore./i]

ain't the interweb great... waytogo

So, desmotropic now has the Red Baron on a German bike, Fighter Pilot on a British bike?

Add a Honda and a hog and you can do a WW II reenactment.

Not sure if you want to show up on a Ducati.  You may end up hanging around the gas station (like Mussolini).

Mike, the Navy Lt, was supposed to pick up the SF this afternoon but his loan check from USAA is not here yet.

The check was to be overnighted on Monday but USAA needed a copy of the front and reverse of the title in order to release the check.  I only provided the front to Mike which he sent to them.  So USAA held up on forwarding the check, but didn't let Mike know why...they just left us hanging in the wind.
