I don't why I keep doing that. Damn Mods with single syllable N names...that I have starkly different rapport with hehe.
It's because I'm old and cranky...

Did the red LED mod in the nos cluster;
The coolant idiot light that gives away that this is an S4 dash is bothering me. Just seems tacky. Luckily the "plate" from the correct 600/750 dash has a part # and it's only $20. Since that's the last thing making this cluster completely correct since the tach is a DP mechanical one for a carbed bike I've gone ahead and ordered it.

I adore the RR exhaust and I'm somewhat committed to it, but it is going to need some serious overhauling to be suitable for this bike. Drilled out the rivets and pulled this giant turd out:
The whole thing needs gutted and re-done. There's like 3 chambers of baffling all wrapped up in some cruddy steel wool. All that is going in the trash in favor of a straight perforated tube wrapped with some fiberglass. There's some posts on the "other" board detailing this a long with much improved flow and a better exhaust note. And I have a local metal guy making some new end caps out of aluminum, and all will be ceramic coated. So this piece of poo will be made worthy.

And yes to gutting it.

I don't know yet, I've messaged the seller.
I'm trying to wrap my brain around the concepts of exhaust scavenging and the need (or lack of) for some kind of crossover within. I guess RR must have had a reason for this odd design, but all of the anecdotal forum info I come across says this exhaust is not good for power (which I can attest to) and it needs to be "gutted" for best results. "Best" meaning what tho? I always felt like this thing did a nice job on my 750 at the low and mid range so I don't want to sacrifice any of that grunt chasing more peak power. I also don't mind a loud exhaust obviously, but as loud as this thing is already I can't even imagine having nothing inside. I'm thinking of straight perforated tubes with a fiberglass packing wrapped around it, and new tips like the ones pictured with a spark arrestor grill.
Hopefully some exhaust gurus will chime in?

I've found scavenging VERY important, but the RR exhaust has it.
But cant say how good it is.
I had that exhaust on my bike for a while and found that it didn't have much clearence.. I could grind it down in a school zone!

This is one of the posts that inspired me to work on the exhaust;

My friend had them.
You have to totally clean of content them to make them work and then they are
loud
.
His W2 -98 w 39mm FCRs & pods, polished heads w DP cams & HC made 88 RWP, mine made 82 w V2 & 41mm, SS cams & HC on
same
dyno.
Still find it hard to believe that it made those numbers w those small valve heads, although I sen the chart dozens of times.

Got impatient and put the front end together...
Experienced some drama...my speedometer drive is not a suitable spacer for this wheel, but the provided one from Carrozzeria worked. On one hand I'm annoyed but on the other, I guess it's time to ditch the idea of an OE dash (more money wasted
) and get the Trailtech Voyager I decided I REALLY want.
GPS...speedometer...tachometer...and way more. The perfect James Bond dash.

It's a Motowheels bucket, guy was selling it new on eBay for some reason, nabbed it for $80. I guess he didn't like it!

Check out the features of this thing. It's geared toward off road riders but I think it'd be great for anyone who has one swiss army bike for commuting, adventuring, canyon carving cafe hopping etc. I'd use the crap out of it. And it looks fantastic. Way more fitting for this build than the clunky analog clocks. That billet protector comes in clear, black and red too.

No, the contrast is good. Be careful not to get too matchy matchy.
