Is there anywhere in Herndon/Reston to get my bike inspected?

Any place that can inspect a car in VA can do a bike as well. So probably just hit up your local service station. No need to go to a bike shop at all. In fact, if you've got any mods, you might avoid a bike shop. From talks with various shop staff, the shop gets more trouble if a bike is pulled over with inspection violations, when that inspection was done at a bike shop as they are expected to know the details of the regs pertaining to bikes that a normal service station might not know

+1 as I've been told the same thing. MC shops generally will be very attentive to mods and may fail you, while a normal service station will glance at your tires to make sure they have some tread and make sure your brake and turn signal lights work, pass you and send you on your way.

I go to a gas station on lee highway, after repeatedly being frustrated by places that "didn't have the sticker". Take both bikes and jeep there, all due this month. Last year there was a new guy; he just didn't understand that the 1098 only has one light on in low beam mode. "Are you sure it's supposed to be like that?" Yes. Yes I am.
I took one to Coleman's once, and they were even checking the freaking fork seals. Yeah the 1098 left fork has leaked for 7 years.

If you're in south Arlington, hit the Shirlington Shell, the one right at the end of the restaurant strip, bordered by 395 on the other side. They will do bikes, and have always let me skip past any cars that have been dropped off. So the most I've ever waited is for them to complete one car, since my timing was poor and he'd just started the process on that car. Other instances with good timing it's been in and out in about 5 min.

Great tip, I'll try them out. I know that Shell - I got stopped by the local popo there for doing nothing and they gave me like 3 tickets

I did not know that. It's moot now because the bike has been sold but it'll be good to know in the future.

Taking the Duc in for inspection at the Shirlington Shell. Wish me luck. Tires are good, headlight has been upgraded, not sure if my mirrors will pass but hoping they do.

That's more to get work out of you.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Yeah the bikes are currently on a "get inspected when I get a ticket" schedule. Though I actually got stopped in Clarendon a few weeks ago for riding like a jerk, and officer friendly just gave me a verbal warning after checking registration. Fortunately he didn't peek at the upper left fork.
