I had the same Problem. I sent a mail to ducati italy and they responded real quick. They wanted some pictures and a copy of the offical papers. After a few days they came up with the Information.

The VIN you entered (ZDMM419AA6B089878) has an invalid check digit. The check digit is a value encoded into the VIN in order to protect against altering VINs illegally. Since the check digit is invalid the VIN that you entered is not the correct VIN for your car.

what's the vin on the neck?

Thanks for the help Smiley but i went to the official Ducati dealer (in Bulgaria)  and this is the result after the check : DUCATI M695 07 EUR , ...Manufact date 05/08/2006  (the VIN is OK ) Iguess the mismatch is because of this :
Post-1980 US models and post-2002 non-US models have a 17-character VIN as follows:

Characters 1-3: World Manufacturer Identifier

Z = Italy
D = Ducati
M = Motorcycle ( i.e. ZDM = Ducati)

Character 4: Motorcycle Type
1 = street version
2 = dual purpose version
3 = off-highway racing version

...................................................
Ducati Pre-2002 Non-US Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)

Prior to 2002, non-US models were assigned a 17-character VIN that does not embody a check digit character that's been required by USDOT since 1980.

Example - 1999 Eurospec 996SPS VIN: ZDMH100AAXB002526

i've not had a 695 in, and so i don't have a 419 vin, but s4rs is 417 and that final # sounds about right for late 06 build.
