you pay in full when you order a part from overseas, why not pay in full when you order it locally?  as a seller, i'd say if you don't make people pay in full, about half will flake on you.  i still have a pc3 for a 1098 i bought years ago without taking a deposit, it's now worthless.  i had a guy do the same on some special order tyres.  you can tell me you're a great, trustworthy bloke all you like, pre payment makes you prove it.  if you don't work in retail, it might be hard to understand, but in retail you treat everyone the same.  retail really does suck.  which is why i don't sell specialty parts.  service parts are somewhat different.  there's not a heap of options based on personal taste.

if we are talking about special order parts then by all means i can accept paying in full , but having to actually go to the shop first instead of paying over the phone
and then having to go back and pick it up when they feel like supplying it 2+ weeks later

but we are talking about normal consumable parts at a dealer

dirt bike spokes , a very common thing , wtf do i need to come and pay for a $10 spoke when you should have it on the shelf being a honda dealer

2 stroke pistons and rings, oh sorry we only have 1 piston when the bike needs 2 , which funny enough they have closed up recently and it makes me smile when i drive past where they used to be
i dont care if you have been a mechanic for 10 years doing something for a long time does not make you good at it, take my gf for an example shes been walking for 28 years and still manages to fall over all the time.

I won't mind buying anything locally, if the cost of the part was a mere markup or profit; in my case it is usually twice or three times the price I can get it for.....

Here is a part I have been lusting after for years:
http://www.ebay.it/itm/TUBO-DI-RACCORDO-POMPA-ACQUA-RADIATORE-DUCATI-MONSTER-S4R-S4RS-/181356323618?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_101&hash=item2a39ade322
The part is not too bad ($50 is a bit high) but shipping for this small lightweight aluminum bit is nearly $90 from Italy to the USA...  yikes I guess I'll keep on wanting it.

Well I asked a while back, here is the thread, but I guess I missed the MotoWheels reply until just now.  I'll see if they can get one and how much it is.

edit:  No, MotoWheels has been having problems with them and cannot reliably get this bit.  I think I can get the stock piece powder coated black and it will be good.

DHL or nothing for large parcels. That's how I ship all my China goods that I hustle around the country reselling. Way cheaper way faster way better service.
