Hi, I'm Jay.    (Hi Jay).    I'm a motorcycle addict.....

I'm planning on purchasing a left over 2013 M796 in the next month or so.   I thought I'd check out this forum in the meantime.

While I'm new to Ducati, I do have a few other Italian bikes, 2013 Moto Guzzi V7 Racer, 2006 Moto Guzzi Breva 1100, and a 2007 Vespa GTS250ie.   I previously owned a 2009 V7 Classic, which I sold to buy the Racer.   Beyond that, I've got a couple of airhead BMWs, an F650GS Dakar, 2001 Honda VFR800, 1992 Honda VFR400R, and several vintage Hondas as well.

I'm hoping to get the now-discontinued white bodywork for my soon to be 796.

You have good taste...  Cool Read my signature line for a few suggested mods. All custom bodywork now discontined?

They take ~ 1,500 miles to break in, but the bike is a pleasure generally...

Where in PA? Any pure gas stations near you? The "new" Monsters have been better about swelling tanks, but better to avoid E-10 if possible. Easier to find E-0 in central VA but I buy 20 gal. at a time, stabilize it and fill the tank after a ride to keep air out of the tank. http://pure-gas.org/index.jsp?stateprov=PA

Sadly, there are no E0 stations within an hour of where I live.

How do you like the Ohlins (dumb question, I know)?

Whenever you go in that direction, just take a bunch of gas cans. I take 4 race cans whenever I head toward the Blue Ridge Parkway..., but I have an oil dealer who sells both 87 & 93 E-0 only 11 miles from me. Rarely costs more than E-10 and yields ~ 10% more mileage. Check with local oil dealers too maybe.

Here's a recent thread on the inexpensive DU-737. Either order it from Ohlins in NC for your weight and riding style or have your dealer do it if he's an Ohlins dealer. Mine is a highly-regarded (by Ohlins) Ohlins tech. 140 miles away unfortunately... http://www.ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=67854.0

I finally picked up the M796 today.   I put about 80 miles on it, and am lovin' it!

I promise some better pictures later.

Does Ducati really need to put so many ugly stickers on the otherwise beautiful trellis frame?
Heat gun + WD40 did the trick.   I also tied the tender cable more discretely.

Hope you saved those.  Wink Some here put them under the seat. I've got them on wax paper. Should you decide to sell the bike to some states, the buyer will need all that VIN specific regulatory stuff for registration.   Cry

Where do you live in PA? County will do.  Wink Did you buy from Ferracci?

I did put them under the seat.    I'm in Palmyra, PA.    I bought it from Koup's.

Koup's is only about 25 minutes from my house.     Ferracci is about 2 1/2 hours.    Coopersburg Eurosports is about 1 1/2 hours away.

Nice collection of bikes you have, BTW.  Wink

Didn't know Koup's but I see they've been around quite a while, so maybe they have a clue!  waytogo

Glad you're enjoying yours. It's a "keeper" too. Give it 1,500 miles to really break in. Any questions, just ask.

To kick off the holiday weekend, I took off work early, and went for a nice 140 mile ride.

PA225, the top of Peter's Mountain at the AT crossing.

Glenn Park Rd., just South of Lykens, PA.

This last pic one of my favorite rodes in South Central PA; PA-125 between Shamokin and Higens, PA.    This is one of the straighter sections of it.    It has many miles of switchbacks as it crosses several ridges.

Thanks! Never rode west of I-81 in PA as I lived 25 miles east of the Water Gap for many years and only did day rides. For holidays I headed toward Asheville!  Grin

Now that you're "official", you should post snaps like the first one on the Ducs in the Wild thread so that others can see. Not to many visit this thread.

Rubber side down!  Wink
