The thread One Track was too lazy to post, or What's the deal with your Avatar?

MendoDave

I will go first.

I have lived a lot of places and met a lot of Daves, so I started thinking of Daves by where they call home. I Call Mendocino County, CA (or Mendo as it's known locally) Home. Yes its true, I live in Klamath Falls Oregon right now, but Mendo is where my Family is From, lived, and buried for several generations.

Recently I started adding version numbers which I change from time to time for, usually no particular reason.

As for the Avatar, I put up whatever strikes my fancy at the time.

DarkMonster620

I've lived in Panama all of my life except the 4 years I was in Germany and 5 years I lived in Miami . . .

I speak 3 languages and understand some French and Italian more than I do Portuguese . . .

I live in the outskirts of the city and have two dogs that have been in my avatar a time or two . . . as has my bike, a 2005 M620 Dark that I've modified a little, mostly aesthetic and some mechanical  . . .

My name is my bike's model until it mysteriously was changed to OneTrack and lots of burgers . . . I don't mind it . . Now, back to business

as for my avatar well hey its the Slipper ( Slipknot ) as in my S2R slipper clutch

Speeddog

My screen name was based on the recent (back in 2003, anyway) obsession with competing for speed records at Bonneville and El Mirage.

The -dog suffix just seemed like the right thing to do at the time.

Avatar usually a critter.

OK but I still dont get it.

Tell Plato I said "Yo what's Up!?"

The toaster avatars were from TOB.

They were kind of an award given when you hit the 1,000 post mark.

I'm not sure who made them at first, but Scott (Slowpoke) took over the duties of customizing them for members when they hit the 1K mark.

I have mine someplace with ram horns on it.

As for my name and avatar...

Back in my college days, I was the mascot at UNC Chapel Hill, aka Rameses.

I bought a Monster and joined the board right at the end of my stint in the suit.

The avatar, I picked up a while back because of my sometimes spastic behavior which reminds me a little of our buddy Napoleon. My original intent was to Photoshop him onto a Hypermotard, but never got around to it.

Didn't know that about the 1000 posts. I only had 800+ or so when they took away the pancake syrup.

from TOB... a joke about winning a toaster for 1000 posts.  toasters started being made for folks back when 1000 was a big number

The Bearded Duc

Seems like a thread for the seasoned members but I wanna play...

1: Started out as duc750 because that was my first Ducati and I'm, well, unoriginal.

Lucky enough to live in SoCal and to have made friends with Speeddog, Duck-Stew, and Baconjunkie. And because I basically had his bike, or parts of it, SacDuc.

2: Changed the name to The Bearded Duc because I'm pretty sure I've had a beard, of some length or another, since I was 15.

3: As far as the avatar goes, please refer to the last part of number 1. [bang]

2006 S2R 800 - She's just darling

1,000 posts took a long time on dial-up.  I've no excuse for my low post count now other than I learn more here than I can give back.

As for me. First initial and partial last name. It was a login at an old job and my co-worker just started calling me that. The pic was snapped after a long ride north of Napa CA while on the way down to a Moto GP race years ago. The idea was to have the worst looking facial hair. I won.

He man, where are all the ads?
