Should I trade my 1100EVO for a SF848
«

There's been many threads comparing the two but has anyone on here considered trading their Monster 1100 for a SF848?
I haven't ridden the SF848 but keep hearing the engine is so much smoother than the 1100 EVO. Also when initally getting my EVO I was heavily comparing the two. The seating on the SF was better for me, its a little taller and I'm 6 ft 3 but I always like the monsters and found a great deal on one so I went with the monster. I ride half city half highway and most ppl suggested the monster handles the city way better.
I've ridden it all summer and the bike is great but I find myself looking at the SF a lot and lusting over it. Having some buyer remorse I guess.

That is a question only you can answer. If you want to trade a good looking Monster for an ugly Street Fighter it is up to you. Of course someone else will think the exact opposite so refer to the first sentence above.

From what people have said so far since I have no fhe.
The evo has more grunt which you might miss. Of course the SF has more top end, which you may or may not use. Too smooth can be boring and smoothness can be a matter of good tuning. The evo is the last of the air cooled big bores. Just my opinion.
In the end, its up to your taste.

Having owned a couple of 4V's, I agree they are smoother. Is that worth all the servicing costs, complexity and plumbing? Your decision naturally. Was a no-brainer for me and I didn't even need the extra cc's. You have a very good chassis there already though!
BTW, if you haven't switched out the stock seat for a Sargent and fitted a 14T, you are probably missing a lot from your EVO.

I have been comparing these two lately as well. I am also throwing the monster 821 into the mix. I have not ridden the SF or the 821 yet, but I would imagine that the 821 would be more similar to the SF than the 1100.

Cool. In meantime The 14T is going on this weekend I actually got it last week.
The 821 looks cool too but I really dig single sided swing arms

I moved from a 796 to a SFS and I'm totally happy with it. There was nothing wrong with my 796 but I found the personality and the riding position of the SF to just agree with me more. It also being the last duc with a full trellis and dry clutch was also nice.
If I were you, I'd take a look around for a used SFS1098 too. You can find them for around the same price or cheaper than a SF848 new.

I had a customer with an SF1098, he wanted to use it for an around-town commuter.
It drove him crazy, trolling along at 35 mph was the last thing it wanted to do.
It wanted to GO!

that's the difference between the 1098 in either trim and the 848 . . the 848 is a bit more rideable . . . but a 1100 is rideable everywhere in the rpm range

1098 sf are not very nice at low speed. 848 is much more docile, but it's a bit gutless at lower rpm. plus i find i feel like i'm sitting on the front wheel. monster is much more comfy and power is much more accessible.
