Has anyone split a Stebel Nautilus recently?  I've seen several videos about splitting the compressor from the horns so they can be mounted in separate locations (connected with a tube).  I've been trying to pry mine apart for an hour and it just is not budging like the ones in the video.  I cut off the tab at the top and pried away the side so the intake connection isn't in the way.  When I try to lever the metal output tube and slide the compressor up, it is firmly stuck.  Even to the point that the top of the compressor looks like it is coming loose from the chromed part as a result of my prying..  ugg, supposed to be a simple weekend project.

Hope nobody minds... but there's a writeup on another forum I frequent for my Kawi Concours...http://www.zggtr.org/index.php?topic=9249.0

Long thread, but there are a couple links in there to other threads on that forum, as well... but definitely a few people who have succeeded in separating the unit and installing on their bikes. Even some decent pics to look at.

I've done a disassemble, but it was so long ago (and I'm not entirely sure where I placed the separated unit in my garage)... hopefully the link above leads you into a helpful direction.

Don't mind at all, thank you!  Quick question though, do I need to create an account and sign in to see pictures on Awaz's posts or something, or are they just older and gone from the thread?

That's the first mention I've read of glue being used, but Awaz's description sounds a lot like mine with the top of the compressor starting to come off.  I think maybe he had the "compact tuning" version with a full shroud based on some of the posts.  I've got that one on my bike now and am disassembling a normal compact to swap in and move the tuning version to another bike.  Was trying to keep most of the plastic intact so I'd have someplace to fab a mount point on the horn side, but maybe I'll just have to dremel the crap out of it.  Thanks!
