Anyone here from Uruguay (Montevideo)?

I'm moving there in a couple of days and will be planning on getting a moto (hopefully a duc) once I have a job. Was wondering what the moto scene is like there.. Its never too early to start doing some research 

On the bright side of things, There is an auto place that sells ducatis and from the few searches I did, it looks like they have a service section too (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100008297464613&fref=ts)
Would be good to get more info on how good the service dept is; availability of parts; qualified techs and such (esp. with them being the only dealer in the  country)
I found this site (http://motos.mercadolibre.com.uy/deportivas/ducati/) which seems to the local version of craigslist/ebay and there are a few ducatis for sale, so there is definitely folks that own and ride them 

The prices though are almost double  , but then again you don't see US prices anywhere else in the world..

If you can find them to rent two Ducs my friend and I will come down and ride on your maiden voyage.......for no less than 500 miles. 
Seriously, we are looking for our next moto trip and Uruguay is on our list.

When are you planning your trip?

I'll have to convince my lady to drive me there  . hopefully that will happen some time this/next month. Unfortunately, finding a job will be priority one. I don't speak much (read: any) Spanish.. So trying to calling them to find out info is out of reach... They have a facebook profile, and from the looks of it, it seems to the owner/manager that operates that account. I sent a friend request to it, in the hopes of finding out more info. Will have to see how that goes....

But yeah, pm me when you are closer to your trip, and we can at least get a cold one

I've got the Spanish covered for us all. 
I'll need to talk to my buddy but it will likely be after the Christmas break since we will be in Europe.  Let me know if you find a rental place, I'll start looking as well.

You're moving to Uruguay without knowing any Spanish? I would definitely find an expat group ASAP.

If Uruguay is anything like Chile, you will be paying a hefty premium for a Duc. I bought a Street Triple R instead simply because even a used 696 was way over what I was willing to pay.

I doubt you will be able to rent a Duc. Beemers are more common I was able to find one place (in Chile) that rented out the different flavors of GS.

That's there. A new 2014 696 sells for US$ 19000 (that's the final price in hand). There are some used 2010 models I saw for ~13k. The buying price is what it will be. I got 7k when I sold my 696 in the US. So I have that to put towards the one I will be getting. What I'm more worried about is the cost and availability of parts, service and insurance (Though I don't think the insurance cost can be worse than in the US. But that's something I still need to find out.)

Outside of the Chinese crap, the only decent ones I've seen roll the streets are a couple of Hondas, suzukis and Harleys. Might be open to considering a Harley depending on how the costs compared to the duc...

Harleys are also expensive.  In all of Chile they had one Duc dealer, no other option for service and parts. Triumph had a couple of dealers and Beemers ruled the high end market
