What'd you say about my Momma?

« on: November 10, 2014, 11:52:51 AM »

I have a builder client that's defaulting on a large invoice.  Its kicking my butt.

Thinking about selling my pride and joy (other than my kids) but not sure how to value it.

I know I'll get the "Blue Book" offers that say its worth $5,500.....I can't/won't sell it for that.

Its a very rare bike with some pretty rare parts.  DPM reservoirs, Fresco CF conical slip ons with polished pipes and baffles (waited six months for these!), cycle cat triples with 749 adjustable forks to name some.  It has less than 10k miles, never dropped.

I'll get pics up but am looking for pricing advice.  I've never seen another Cromo in the wild other than mine.

Sorry to hear.  Really sucks when you put out a ton and get screwed.  Maybe if you hung the guy off the top of the project by his ankles some cash will fall out of his pockets  Evil

How long till you get paid?  Factor the receivable?

Not sure if I will get paid.  Builder doesn't have a pot to piss in.

Hate to hear that. More bad news though, your bike will probably be worth more if you pull off the bling and sell those parts individually and put the bike as close to stock as you can. Unless you get lucky and find the perfect buyer, it's only going to bring what the market thinks it's worth. Good luck.

As a fellow cromo owner, I don't think I could ever sell mine.

I'm also unsure you could get even the blue book value for it. As rgramjet stated, you would likely be better off putting it back to stock and selling the bling seperately.

Best of luck whatever choice you make.

Pit bull, I feel the same way.  100% positive I will regret selling it.

Iz, if I parted it out, I'm sure there will be a curse or hit put on me.

I'm busting my ass these days, trying to avoid selling it.

Put your bike on EBay and Craigslist.  Make sure you cast as wide a net as possible.  You are going to need to find the right buyer.  Selling a bike is an opportunity. It frees you up to try something new.
