Yeah just cricket's and tumble weeds in here now
lots of Ozmonsters have moved on , is it the over zealous  Police or natural cycle of things .
here is a blast from the past  Dolph  waytogo , this used to be a regular thing.

Yes 5 years ago it was going strong here on the forum. I sold the monster some time ago so if I decide to go and buy another I will be sure to pipe in.

Uh-oh ... what's going on here?

« Reply #8 on: December 12, 2014, 03:29:02 PM »

Interesting.

A couple of things I have been contemplating lately ... one is where the motivation has gone - competing priorities, lack of time, people moving on ... and the 'outside influences' dulling the enthusiasm making it easy for people to drift away.

The other thing that I have been contemplating is whether people may drift back. It is interesting how few 'tweeny' or 'next-gen' Monster owners have joined the OzMo board ... and become involved in the community. Perhaps there is something with the earlier bikes.

I am not surprised that a couple of former older style Monster owners are thinking about re-joining the fold. The things that drew us to the bikes in the first place are still there ... it is what grew this community.

Welcome back Super & Rob ... I hope you both find what you are looking for.

I don't think that anyone in Sydney has seen or know of you btw. We have had pizza nights and coffee runs but you have never been around or shown up for those, so go figure.     Roll Eyes

Look, I tell you what......  PM Rob S and you both arrange a ride somewhere.....     waytogo

Memory loss is an indication of senility Brian. I think more of you guys have met and ridden with Dave than you care to remember.

... but that doesn't change the fact that anybody can organise a ride. The fact is nobody is choosing to organise a ride.

Yes, as Betty said it is a commitment to organise a group ride.
One we all have had a go at , some were a great success others not so.
dmb80 its just a matter of putting your balls on the line, If you decide to do one
just do it ! don't wait for someone else to do it.

But this time of year is probably not the best time.
Family commitments , hot steamy and potentially wet weather and the increased interest from  Police
and the soon to be DD's.
What I have done on many occasions is post up a thread with your intended destination give a date and ask for expressions of interest.
But your duty as the ride maker is basically taking charge of the ride and leading the group
"at an appropriate pace" also organising a sweep / corner man and planning the fuel stops .
Otherwise it ends up a debacle with missing riders and waiting around for slower riders and lots of phone tag  boo.

Due to some of the above issues the last few group rides I have been on have been of the secret handshake variety with six or less riders.

But I do miss the big group rides , when they are good and well organised they can be a lot of fun  waytogo

I thought it was just because you didn't have many friends.

I too miss the group rides. Heaps of good fun, even if we did occasionally get lost.
