I have borrowed a friend V4r and its brilliant except for the fuel consumption , lucky to get 100 miles on a tankful , ne says it only gets 27mpg  average ,also getting spares and service for Apprillia is very hit and miss .

Out of curiosity, why?

I've never ridden one, but I really like the looks, and the V4 is my all-time favorite motor. My main concern is the motor is too powerful to have fun on the street...I'd be breaking the law if I ever got it out of 3rd gear!  :P

Really just uncomfortable, unplanted.

Power delivery is probably great on track, but I'm riding canyons at legalish speeds, and want the power delivery a bit smoother and lower.

The TV4 just wants to be whipped all the time and I feel that will tire me faster. I'm looking for a bike more geared towars the street than the track. Maybe it just shows how perfect the Brutale suits my needs.

Secondarily it seems as though there are many quality control issues and lack of support from the dealer network.

Fair enough. I think they're probably a bit much for the street as well.

I don't know about QC issues though. Aprilias are known to be pretty reliable. No way worse than a Ducati or an MV. That said, the dealer network can be bad...I wouldn't get one without a dealer I trust nearby.
