To put this thing in perspective, it had roughly the same HP as the new Ducati Scrambler but weighed 150 lbs (!) less.

FWIW, had a 1979 1/2 440 WR which was geared for tight woods. You had to wear plastic boots and stand well to the side to start it or risk a broken foot! -1T in the front, on the street with knobbies it would wheelie at will in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th with a mere crack of the throttle. Hit 75 MPH once according to the VDO speedo. Desert racers with stock gearing no doubt went 10+ MPH faster. It was fast anyway...  Cool

This one has 10" at both ends. Later Maicos were too tall for my 5' 8+" in deep woods. Ran out of free time about then anyway.  Cry Maicos are magic. Had a 250 WR coffin tank before that one...
