Be sure to spray trunk undercoating post paint, or else your chances of ruining the finish are nil.

But if I had done things in the right order, it'd still be in primer.

This is theoretically some sort of trunk liner. Covers as much as a bikini.

And the mat that was bought sight unseen has been described as "speckled" which is apparently another word for "ugly."

I hate it.

Might as well fix that ugly vinyl trunk mat.

I bought some marine grade vinyl from the local fabric store. I needed two yards. They had two yards. I'll take it.

Lay it out.

Put your ugly template over it.

Steal your Paula's sewing supplies. Realize you messed up her current sewing project. Blame the cat.

Pin both layers together. Learn to look at the pin you're picking up instead of blindly fumbling.

Cut cut. Rotary cutters work awesome.

Voilà! C'est finis!

Your wife needs to take all the sharp tools from the garage so you don't hurt yourself.

Know those neat lights with the magnification built in?

I don't have one.

I re-painted the bezel letters.

I permanently installed the radio and the ignition switch. I had to make and install a bracket for each. I couldn't get access to the back of the ignition switch without removing the gauges.

The gauges are blocked by the steering column.

So.....much backwards progress was made.

It's why I left the seats out. Still sucks.

I've amended that to include a recently painted dash as being slightly worse.

The wiper switch doesn't fit. I need to figure out what's up with that. Almost done with that then probably on to the heater box.

Is the wiper transmission internal, or external, on that car?

Internal.

It's not a stock switch as the old qiper motor was vacuum and I put a 'lectric one in.

The company claims it'll fit. I haven't tried since I took the gauges out.

Make sure it's in good shape. You don't want to change it after the car is completely assembled...trust me on this.

Old vertical window channel for the rear windows. It's where the glass slides and ideally, keeps it from rattling.

I need the brackets from the back-apparently no one makes new stuff for the rears. If they do I couldn't find it.

If you find it don't tell me, it's too late.

Pop the brackets out. Save the old piece-it's our template for the new holes.

Comparison. No wonder it rattled.

Put 'em back to back. Drill through all the old holes.

Make sure brackets are going to face the right way, and that all the little tabs that held it in place are straightened and fit through the holes you just made.

Roll the window up and down smoothly a few dozen times and giggle.
