Guys there has got to be a topic/ post out there on this - but couldn't find one.

My black speedy moto clutch cover is a deep purple. though very cool, not the look I am after...

What are my options re: painting or re finishing?

thanks

It sounds like it's anodized to me, rather than powder coated.  You could have it anodized again, or you could paint it or powder coat it.

Same problem here. Stripped the anodize and polished it to a billet shine.

However my black Speedymoto Kukri pressure plate is purple too, but i cant strip it because of all the crevasses,  your only option is to PC it, or re anodize it. I want a gold one though. so i might just PC mine nad sell it.

oven cleaner will strip anodizing, its not perfect but it does a pretty good job.

Thats what i did with my clutch cover, it doenst take it of in a clean easy swipe, you still need to attack it with sand paper, and it also pits the aluminum. I could deal with it on the flat surface of the clutch cover, but not in the small corners of a clutch plate. your best bet is to sand blast the layer of metal of or just anodize ontop of it.

Not sure where to 1) sand balst and 2) anodize.

I'll dig around.

Faded anodizing still makes a good base for paint.

PM for details.

Any place that does anodization can also strip the old anodize off if you want.

If you just want it black again you probably can have it anodized fairly cheap if you go local.  I remember when I was a young teen I had an RC Car part anodized blue for $5 cause they threw it in with a batch of other blue stuff for me.  Black would would be even easier to pull off.

I simply said I bought this set in the late fall and its purple...

They said that will happen every now and again some parts will fade out. Just send it back and we'll toss them in a batch we are sending out.

I asked what the turn around tim would be, they said batches go out a few times a month.

A few weeks.

almost all black anodizing will purple over time.  Don't know if its the UV or what  but it's something that has to be dealt with if you like the look of anodizing vs PC pr paint
